The University of Cadiz is a public university of the autonomous region of Andalusia. It was founded in 1979 and nowadays offers 61 degrees and has more than 20 000 students.

It is some of the most important institutions of the province of Cadiz, playing a crucial role on its economy. Due to its open policy and atlantic projection, it embraces students from the five continents. It has important agreements with Hispanic American universities, as well as English, Russian and African ones.

One of its most peculiar aspects is the specialization in marine science, nautical science and naval engineering. All of them are imparted in the Andalusian Center of High Marine Degrees, located in Puerto Real’s campus.
